This is a very early, circa 1905, Lummis Peanut Butter, 10 lb. tin pail, with the original wire handle and paper label. The Lummis Peanut Butter factory opened in Philadelphia Pa., in 1903, and continued to produce peanut butter until it closed in 1960. The simple basic design of the paper label, suggests that this tin was used during the first few years of the company's existence. The tin measures 7-1/2" across, and stands 7" tall. (not including handle)
This old tin is good condition overall, with most of the original paper label intact and readable. There is some expected cosmetic wear present, including dings, scratches, small areas of surface rust on the outside, and mild surface rust on the inside bottom. There are no rust holes or soft spots. Wire handle and lid are in good condition.
Overall, a nice primitive tin, that would compliment any collection.
