Unique General Electric MCM Atomic Adjustable Gooseneck Desk Lamp, Pierced Cone Shade, UFO Style Lamp

This is a very unique, General Electric, mid-century modern, atomic / UFO style gooseneck desk lamp. The adjustable lamp cone is attached to a curved black iron neck, which is also adjustable with a thumb screw that is attached to the base. The base appears to be Bakelite, but it may be plastic, as I am uncertain. This was an infrared lamp when it was made BY G.E., but later converted to a desk or table lamp. Base is marked "General Electric".
Approximate measurements:
Base - 6-1/2" x 10-1/4" at the widest points.
Shade - 6-1/4" wide x 7-1/2" deep.
Height - Approx. 14" to the highest point of the shade, as shown in the first photo.
CONDITION: Lamp is in good pre-owned condition, and in good working order. Power cord and plug good and solid, free of damage or defects. Some expected, age appropriate cosmetic wear is present, as displayed in the photos.
This one-of-a-kind, retro desk lamp would make a great addition to almost any decor.
