Beautiful, Chinese, hand carved, cinnabar, lacquer box marked "China" on the bottom. Based on this marking I believe box is from the early 20th century 1910's-1930's, China's Republic period (1912-1949).
Measures approximately 4-1/2" long x 3-5/8" wide x 1-5/8" tall
Box is in fair condition. There is damage to the corners on the lid as well as the inside lip of the box. Image on lid is worn, consistent with age but is a nice example of this art form that dates back centuries.
Perfect to hold jewelry or other keepsakes or just for display.
