This is a spectacular, gold, aluminum Christmas tree from the 1960's. The "Sparkler" (W-65X), also known as a "Pom-Pom" tree, was made by Holiday Industries, who made aluminum trees for only a few years, from 1960-1962. Additionally aluminum trees in gold are more rare, as most aluminum trees were made in silver.
Holiday Industries was a branch of Star Brand, located in Portsmouth, Virginia on Broad & Commerce Streets. All branch sleeves are marked with company name and address.
All original parts are included, 2 wooden poles, painted or covered with gold foil, a 3 leg stand and 49 branches in their original, paper sleeves. Original box is included, but is not in good shape.
Poles measure about 22-1/2" each, 45" together. Branches are about 2" long.
Fully assembled, tree measures about 46" wide x 72" tall.
Tree is in good condition considering age and previous use. There is some wear noted, but I did not notice any tarnishing to the aluminum branches, they were stored in individual sleeves. The aluminum pieces were originally attached to the metal rods with tape, some of this is coming loose and some of the pieces slide up and down on the metal rods. These could be re-taped at the discretion of the buyer, I did not want to alter the original, vintage condition. The tree is able to be assembled and displayed as is, and looks fantastic when set up. The original box is included but is not in good shape and was taped together at some point. It is still helpful for identification purposes.
A wonderful, nostalgic, reminder of Christmases past.
