This is a beautiful, vintage, Japanese, Hanakago, Ikebana, flower basket. Split bamboo strips are hand woven in a loose weave interwoven with multiple, braided, bamboo strips, creating a unique design. Basket is painted a pretty green, blue / gray color creating a nice contrast with the brown bamboo.
Bottom is reinforced with thicker, crossed bamboo strips.
Measures approximately 11" wide x 13" long x 4-1/4" tall .
Basket is in good condition with minor wear and dings noted. There is one area with a small dent that has a few, small broken pieces of bamboo, but no missing pieces. This is barely noticeable when basket is being used or displayed. There are a few other areas with tiny cracks, but no major damage. As with any unique, handmade item, flaws and imperfections may be noted.
