Beautiful, hand carved and painted wooden cardinal with black, glass eyes. Cardinal is sitting on rough edge, wood base, attached with a small dowel that is not glued in place, so bird can be removed. Signed on the bottom, WEK, for William E. Kirkpatrick.
Will Kirkpatrick, born in 1939, is a wood carver from Hudson, Massachusetts. He is known for carrying on the American tradition of using old fashioned techniques to hand carve his wooden duck decoys and shore birds.
Cardinal measures approximately 8" long from beak to tail x 2-3/4" wide across base x 6-3/4" tall including wood base.
Bird is in good condition with no splits, cracks or chips. As with any handcrafted item, flaws and imperfections may be present.
This one of a kind, hand carved, wooden bird, would make a great gift for any bird lover.
