This is a very nice, antique, monogrammed, signet ring. The 10k, rose gold, etched band has a convex, black, onyx stone set into it. On top of the onyx is an Old English letter "T" with 6, rose cut diamonds.
Ring is about size 11-1/2 based on diameter measurement of approximately 7/8" or 21 mm.
Ring face measures approximately 1/2" wide x 1/8" thick x 3/4" tall.
The inside of the ring is marked, "PAT, AP". There were 2 patents for similar rings one dated Sept. 28, 1887 by William P. Sinnock and one dated April 26, 1890, by William Leidig. These rings were designed to be able to add a stone and a monogram initial to the gold, ring base according to a customer's preference. This ring is a little different with the pins to remove the stone at the top and bottom as opposed to the back of the ring.
In good condition overall considering the ring's age. Some scratches and scuffs are present consistent with previous use and age. There is a split in the middle of the black onyx, seen at the top and bottom of the ring. This may have been caused by the pins at the top and bottom of the ring. Other versions of this ring have the removal screw on the back of the ring, probably to prevent the stone from cracking.
Even with flaws, this is a beautiful piece of Victorian jewelry and would make a great addition to any collection!
