Kazuri bead necklace with cheetah pendant. Beads in tan / mustard color (18), black (10) and brown (8) are separated by clear beads and metal spacers. Cheetah pendant, in tan with black and brown detail, in the center.
Kazuri, derived from the Swahili word for "small and beautiful," are beads made from clay by local women in Nairobi, Kenya. Originally founded in 1975 by Lady Susan Wood to provide disadvantaged women in Kenya with a source of income.
Measures approximately 19" long including clasps.
Cheetah measures approximately 1" x 1-1/2" x 1/4" thick.
Necklace is in good condition, there is some crazing noted to the lighter colored beads including the cheetah. These beads are handmade in Africa and as with any handmade item, flaws and imperfections may be present.
