1920's Western Electric Telephone Small Dovetailed Oak Box, Ringer Box Part or Other

A very nice, Western Electric, small wooden dovetailed box, with the original Western Electric label on the front. Perhaps a small ringer box component, or maybe something related to a telephone subset? The back of the box is open because it would have been mounted to the wall, and "HCS / 465A" is engraved on the left and right edges of the back.
Overall measurements approx. 3" wide x 1-1/2" deep x 4-3/4" tall.
CONDITION: The dove tailed wooden case is in very nice condition, with age appropriate cosmetic wear. The interior mechanisms appear to be complete, but the unit has not been tested.
