This is a vintage, made between 1940 and 1955, wooden Snoopy Sniffer #180, pull toy made by Fisher Price. There is a patent number (111,796) present below the Fisher Price logo.
This toy was first made in 1938 and for the first two years (1938 and 1939) no patent number was printed on the dog. Snoopy was a white hound dog with black spots and black oil cloth ears. From 1955-1958 Fisher Price introduced the second Snoopy Sniffer #780 and then in 1958, Fisher Price changed Snoopy's design to a brown dog with plastic ears.
*See www.thisoldtoy.com for more information.
Measures 16.75" long x 4" wide x 5" tall.
Condition: Overall Snoopy is in good condition, considering his age. He has wear around the edges, and his ears and tail are missing. Some of the paper lithograph has worn off, however, most of the graphics on his face and collar are intact and legible.
Snoopy still works when pulled, all four feet move and he makes a "woof-woof" sound when pulled.
This would be a great display piece for someone starting a vintage toy collection, a dog lover, or someone who collects vintage Fisher Price toys.
