A Lot of 6 Vintage Architectural Siegar Mfg. Co. Metal Roof Snowbirds / Snow Guards. "Snow birds" (also called snow guards) have been used on slate, tile, and metal roofs for more than a century. They are placed on the roof surface near the bottom edge, to catch the melting snow, and keep it from sliding off the roof in larges "chunks", which can destroy the rain gutters and other parts of the home's exterior.
This lot of snow guards is marked "Siegar Mfg. Co., Pat 1929". They are in good shape as shown in the photos. 5 of them are complete with the roof fastening strips, and one of them has been painted red. One of them is missing the fastening strip.
The snow guards measure 5-1/2" X 2-1/4" X 3" tall, not including the fastening strip.
