This is a Nice Old Handmade Wooden Carpenter's Tool Box, from from the 1940's or 50's. It opens from the front with a hinged door that has a clasp for a lock. Inside is a top cubby compartment that measures 3" tall, and 17" wide. The remainder of the cabinet is a single compartment for larger tools. This is a solid old toolbox with great aged / weathered patina, and built to last!. It did have a skeleton key lock at one time, but was removed by a past owner, who installed the clasp. A skeleton lock could easily be re-installed, as the inside of the door still has the notches that were chiseled out when the original lock was installed. This box is in good solid condition. There are no major cracks, breaks, or other structural damage. Some cosmetic fading, wear, and patina are all present.
Measurements: 18" long, 8" wide, and 14-1/2" tall (not including the handle). It weighs about 12 LBS, 5 Oz..
