This is a Nice Old Handmade Wooden Artist's Travel Tool Box, with hand painted folk art, from from the 1940's or 50's. Box is dovetailed with a hinged lid and is stained dark brown. Lid opens in the front to allow for palatte or a small canvas to be slid in. Brown, plastic handle for easy carrying and bottom has four metal feet.
On the inside of the lid, someone hand painted a Zook, Pennsylvania Dutch Good Luck Hex Sign. This is a beautiful example of local, Pennsylvania folk art and while there is some wear amd chipping paint, the hex sign is mostly intact. Please see pictures for more details.
This box is in good solid condition. There is one very small strip of wood missing from the top, bottom corner. Some minor paint chipping on the hex sign. There are no major cracks, breaks, or other structural damage. Some cosmetic wear, and patina are present.
Measurements: 16-3/4" long, 13-1/4" wide, and 3-3/4" tall.
Nice vintage box that would be great to organize art supplies, desktop, kids school supplies or just as a display piece.
