This is a very nice, antique, round, bentwood, spice box. From the late 1800's to early 1900's, the larger round box holds seven, round, spice containers. Also called, "Shaker" style boxes, these boxes were lightweight, stored easily in the pantry and often fit inside each other when not in use.
The word "Spices" is stenciled on the front / side of the larger box and individual spice names are stenciled on each container side as well as each lid including; Allspice, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Mustard, Nutmeg. Round containers fit snugly in box.
Approximate measurements:
Large container measures 8" in diameter across bottom and 3.75" tall with lid.
Spice containers measure 2.5" in diameter and 3.5" tall.
Boxes are in very good, vintage condition. There is a small split in the lid and several small chips and scuffs consistant with age and use. Stenciled graphics intact and legible with some wear. Overall, all containers all in very good condition considering their age!
Beautiful piece of antique, country kitchen decor!
