Beautiful, carved, wooden, dog bookend from The Beckhard Line. Made in Germany, in the 1930's or 1940's in the art deco style of Black Forest carvings, this single bookend has an adorable, hand carved, wooden dog with glass eyes sitting on a block of wood. Wooden pin on the bottom of the dog holds him in place on the wood block, it looks like it may have been glued there at one time, but the dog can be turned to face in other directions.
This unique bookend is in very good vintage, previously owned condition with minor, expected wear from use and age.
Dog alone measures approximately 1-3/8" long x 2-3/4" wide from front to back x 3-7/8" tall.
Block measures approximately 4-1/4 long x 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall.
Dog and block together measure 5" tall.
This vintage piece of art would is ready to hold your books or just be displayed and would make a wonderful gift for any reader, vintage collector, or lover of dogs.
