Nice, Incolay Stone, votive candle holder or cup. Carved stone that looks like cameo, depicts figures with horse drawn chariots, in a Green / Roman scene. Around the top near the rim of the cup are the following names, "Eutichus, Olympeva, Pyramus and Hierax", copied from a 1st Century AD, Roman cup.
*The word "Incolay" comes from an acronym of, "in layers of color", which perfectly describes the many, beautiful, swirled colors that can be made. Incolay is created by crushing several, different colored minerals and combining them to create a new material that resembles marble or stone. This process was created by E.M. Bright in the mid 1960's in California.
Measures approximately: 3-1/2" across top, base measures 3" across x about 3" tall.
In very good, vintage condition with no chips, cracks or breaks noted. Minor wear from use and age as well as imperfections often noted with vintage, handmade items.
Unique and colorful, vintage candle holder looks beautiful with candlelight shining through. Would also be great to put on your dresser for jewelry, change or keys.
