This is a vintage, ten inch (10"), light up, World Libary Globe made by Replogle Globes, Inc., Chicago Illinois. Globe sits in mid century style, metal stand that holds electric cord nicely in place. Light turns on and off with thumbwheel switch.
Based on political boundaries; United Arab Republic is marked, French West Africa is divided and South Africa is still the Union of South Africa, I believe this globe is from 1960.
1958-1961 Egypt and Syria are still referred to as the United Arab Republic
1960 French West Africa divides into independent countries
1961 Union of South Africa becomes the Republic of South Africa
Globe measures approximately 10" in diameter x 13" tall.
Base measures about 9" across at longest point
This globe is in overall good condition considering it's age, with nice graphics. There are a few cosmetic imperfections, dirt smudges, scuffs and scratches. Please see pictures for details. Light in good working order.
Great vintage display piece for a teacher, geography student or any retro decor!
