Antique Tabletop Writing Desk, Primitive Captain's Lap Desk, Portable Wooden Writing Desk, Hinged Folding Desk With Tray and Storage
Primitive, Portable, Wooden Writing Desk. Possibly for a ship's Captain or Military person, this rustic, dovetailed box has a hinged lid and a hinged, fold down, writing surface. Divided, dovetail, wooden tray lifts out easily to storage underneath.
The back on the inside is engraved / stamped with the number "6202".
The underside of the lid edge is stamped / marked "47".
Measures 14" x 9-3/4" x 9" tall.
Tray measures about 12-3/4" long x 8-3/4" wide x 1-3/4" tall
Desk is in good vintage condition. There is a crack in the wood of the inside, fold down writing surface, that does not affect the integrity of the box. Please see above pictures for details. Some scratches and scuffs as expected with age and previous use. Box has lock but no key.
